Ok, so lots going on here now.
On Friday I got a call out of the blue from a man who works in a local framing shop/gallery. (He has been seeing my work now for the past couple years as I have been bringing it in for framing/mounting.) He asked me if I could bring down selected paintings to show the lady who not only owns the shop but does the buying as well. It was pretty harrowing for me, to say the least. They were very nice to me, don't get me wrong, but after the last refusal from the publisher I sent one of my works to, I admittedly felt a bit gun shy. In addition to that, my new focus became the up and coming BP award, as well as concentrating on getting a new series completed to submit to galleries in London. So after it was all done, and my husband and I stood and talked it over with the owner of the shop, it was decided that "The Dirty Dozen Brass Band" was going to be displayed there for sale...that is, after I could figure out how to print out limited edition copies. Done and dusted, waiting to hear from the printer (who seems like a real great guy, not to speak of appearing highly professional and not out to rip me off) and hopefully, a Jeanne Warren original will be hung in a shop for lots of eyes to see! It still feels a bit like a dream, and who knows what will come of it? I may or may not sell very many of them, or maybe won't even sell one! But unless I give it a try, I will never know. We all have to start from somewhere, and this seems to be my first rung on that ladder. What's most important, however, is that someone not only remembered my work, but appreciated it enough to give me and it a chance. Thanks, Mark. Wish me luck! :-)
